About Me

Brendan Williams

I am a research fellow at the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics in the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences, University of Reading. My research intersects the fields of physiology and psychology, where I use neuroimaging, actigraphy, and steroid hormone analyses to investigate interactions during adolescent development between puberty, cognition, and mental health.

My doctoral research focused on understanding how cognitive flexibility is involved in producing adaptive behaviour. To do this I used a range of approaches including multimodal imaging of the human brain using fMRI and MRS and behavioural research using computational modelling of reinforcement learning.

Physiology

I use actigraphy and hormonal assaying to study relationships between sex steroids, sleep, and activity during puberty.
